Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary is a location added by Wyrmstooth.
At the eastern side of the island, there is an abandoned Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. Its door, unlike the vanilla doors, does not request a secret password. The Dragonborn will only find one dead body and several chests with some not so useful loot. Near the entrance, there is a small room with a Draugr. In the first level of the sanctuary, a note will warn about more Draugr downstairs.
It seems that the sanctuary was abandoned, but the brotherhood had left a single guard: the dead assassin.
After defeating the draugr there is a treasure room with a safe, an empty display case, a lockbox, and other various loot. Also there is manure (ingredient) located either in the loot room or alchemy room. Strangely torture tools (unique item) can be found in the initiate area.
ItemsEdit
- 1 Shrouded Armor set - Looted off the dead assassin.
- 1 Shrouded Outfit set - Robe, hood, and shoes in bedroom, handwraps located on arcane enchanter.
- 3 Playable Instruments - Lute and drum in bedroom, flute on table in dining area.

2 years agoSo I spent the last couple of hours trying and testing the mods floating around the nexus which tackle the Dark Brotherhood. And I have to say I am deeply disappointed as most of them are outdated, CTD-prone and bugridden. And no, the issues I faced have nothing to do with my game, because I tested them on a freshly installed skyrim on my Laptop.
So unless there is a major mod which is not being shown to me while searching for 'Dark Brotherhood' I tried the first two and 'save the dark brotherhood' a bit further down.
I will explain what I liked and disliked about each mod and why all of these leave me unsatisfied in the end. Note that I had to clean each and every of these mods manually as they contained deleted navmeshes, dirty edits and several ITM records.
Let's start with a somewhat decent mod: Save the Dark Brotherhood
My dell laptop keyboard is locked. The mod basically does what it describes, you can actively prevent the HQ from being smoked and can save some of the members in return. Nothing special after all, because it does not really add anything new, despite functioning well overall. I just wish it did also clean up and retexture the HQ a bit. Anyhow, if you felt like that saving your DB fellows was a thing to do, get it.
A beautifier that does what it says but needs to be properly cleaned as well: Dark Sanctuary Reborn
Well, not much to say here other that it makes the Sanctuary look pretty after you are done with the quest line and adds some questionable things like npcs to torture. Does not expand the questline or add anything new in that regard.
And now, the mod that let my hopes go high, but let me fall even harder as a result: The Dark Brotherhood Resurrection Part 1
Yea, Part 1 of .. well 1. The mod adds two followers which frequently cause the game to crash when you use them, but makes a decent attempt at restoring the sanctuary to a somewhat decent place worth living in and operation from. If you manually delete the followers (and basically accept that you have to quick save every second minute in the 'new' quest part, it is a somewhat decent mod). Other than that, it is old, lacks a compatibility section and contains so much dirty stuff that it will likely break a modded game. This could have been so much more and I wish someone would pick it up and fix it or try to create something similar to finally give the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim an ending it deserves or extends what we have to a better state.
While the vanilla questline is really good, there is still a lot of unused potential and I am quite sad that no mod was able to fully unleash it so far. Which is actually quite surprising since the 'stealth archer' playstyle (I know it's quite the meme aswell) was very common among the major population of skyrim players and such a playstyle usually involves the DB.
Edit: Including it in mainpost, explanation of what I would like to see in DB (thanks /u/teabag86/)
Alright, lengthy explanation inc: I feel like the whole Dark Brotherhood questline is about restoring the guild to it's former glory (being more than just a myth to scare children in their beds) and making them an influential force in the civil war and stabilizing the region.
Wait what? Yes.
Train mechanic simulator 2019 free download version. Prepare to spend most of your in-game time in a virtual Workshop under the hood of virtual cars.CMS 2018: bigger, better and finally improvedThe installment of 2014 was a real breakthrough for a small Polish studio Red Dot Games, with more than 470, 000 of copies sold during 3 years of its existence. This was a great result for an indie niche game published only on Steam. Many novices think that it is something like Euro Truck Simulator series. However, it is not like that at all.
There is a quest in the storyline which involves assassinating the Emperor. This should probably be one of the most destabilizing acts commited to the Imperial Empire. I always envisioned being able to place the tracks to whatever you want the Empire to go to war with.
Dislike the Thalmors because they are racist and entitled? Blame the assassination on them by placing clues and subsequently shattering the alliance and nullifying the White-Gold-Concordate.
Hate the Stormclocks and you love the 'Age of Aggression?' Don't assassinate the Emperor but get rid of Ulfric instead and end the civil war before it even fully starts and shatter the rebellion. Why do you I even have to assassinate Victoria Vici? What if I am roleplaying as an Imperial who wants to actually use his stealth, assassination and sneaking talents to help stabilize the region?
Hate the Imperial Legion? Terminate the Emperor and throw Elisif and Tullius down the cliffs and then set up riots in Solitude to destabilize the city.
I personally do not envision the DB as a unorginazed bunch of psychopaths but as a smartly operated faction, which does not want to destabilize and enitre region solely because of gold. Yes, basically everyone can perform the black sacrament and wish death upon highly influential people. But that doesn't even make sense, the Listerner should be able to refuse 'contracts' because they might cause major backlashes and harm the organisation as a whole. (Due to sloppy management, the hideout near Falkreath gets entirely obliterated).
Give me an option to get rid of Cicero right at the start of his madness. I know, the Tennets actually forbid the assassination on guild members, but what about locking the jester up in a cell? That's technically not forbidden and would help restoring the DB as a solid organisation instead of being a joke.
I can see why the DB only acts on behalf of contracts by the mother, but there should at least be an option (as you are the Listener) to 'interpret' stuff differently and actively influence political affairs with carefully planned, placed and executed assassinations.
All in all, I feel like the DB Questline shoehorns you into too many decisions that are lorewise only acceptable if you are roleplaying as a freaked out madman who doesn't give a damn for politics and bascially does not care what happens to Skyrim after the civil war, while being technically present with the option to change everything and decide the region's fate yourself.

The Brotherhood of Old is a Dark Brotherhood expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.
Taking place after the final quest in the original Dark Brotherhood questline, this 24 quest epic will take you all across the land of Skyrim, as you try and rebuild the Brotherhood and strengthen it against future attacks. How will you deal with these new Brothers and Sisters? Will you be heartless and cold, doing only what is good for the Brotherhood as a whole? Will you be silent or cryptic, letting others fill in the gaps? Will you take the straightforward path, or will you put in a little extra effort and be rewarded proportionally? Will the Brotherhood fail under you, or will you make Sithis proud?
Features Edit
- Roughly 8 to 12 hours of gameplay depending on your play style.
- 24 quests, which includes 16 main story quests, and 8 optional side quests.
- New items including new books, weapons, clothing, and armor.
- Fully voiced, featuring 26 semi-professional and professional voice actors.
- A new player home.
- A new follower and potential wife.
Compatibility Edit
- Compatible with Save the Dark Brotherhood, so long as you install and play that first seeing how it happens before the questline ends.
- Not compatible with any mods that change or overhaul the Dawnstar Sanctuary and the Falkreath Sanctuary (called Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in-game.)
- Not compatible with any mods that make major story changes to the Dark Brotherhood after the main Dark Brotherhood questline.
- Not compatible with any mods that make major changes to the NPCs Nazir and Babette.
- Not compatible with any mods that move the location of the Night Mother.
- Not compatible with any mods that change the way the Dark Brotherhood eviction system works (if any.)
I finished the quest before it and Astrid gave me the details of 'Bound until Death': to head out to kill a woman on her wedding day. However, the quest log never updates. I went to Solitude and there was no wedding going on.
Here's what I've tried to do to fix it:
- Loaded an older save to try again.
- Using the console for
setstate DB05 10
,startquest DB05
<-nothing happened. - Using the console for
completequest DB05
<- worked, but then Ididn't get the following quest nor the reward for the quest. - Doing all the regular assassination missions first.
- Creating a mod to make DB05 start as loaded. I may have done it wrongas I've never modded a quest before.
- Turned off the unofficial patch mod.
- Smacking Astrid with a mace and paying the fine.
- Attempted to kill the entire Dark Brotherhood, but they kept gettingback up. Cheaters.
The only other possible reason for the quest going bad that I've seen, is when you're in a certain part of one of the Civil War quests for either faction, but I haven't joined either of them.
Any ideas? I'm feeling pretty stuck here.

Had this same problem. The only thing to do is go into the console and use:
setstage db06 05
. This will start the next quest 'Breaching Security'.This should put you in the next set of quests for the Dark Brotherhood.

Found a way to fix this on Xbox One.
Make sure you have Chest Room mod installed. Load a save before you talk to Astrid, then go to Solitude, and use the Cheat 'silent kill' spell to kill Vittoria Vici. She won’t be essential if you used that chest spell. Fast travel back to Astrid after you kill her, and speak to Astrid: now you should get the quest. Just make sure to use the revive NPC spell on Vittoria, because she’ll be dead when you go back to Solitude.

did you steal the radiant raiment fine clothes cause I've done that quest and you have to get that very specific apparel(clothes) before you can continue and you do have to steal them(don't remember if it matters if you kill her I almost did for the fun of it:)

They know. Here’s how to get involved.
With Skyrim having returned on Switch and PS VR, it’s important that players know who to pledge their allegiance to. The Dark Brotherhood is one of the most popular quest lines in The Elder Scrolls, and for good bloody reason – who doesn’t love a bit of the art of assassination?
Skyrim Se Dark Brotherhood Mods
The problem with a secretive society of assassins, however, is that they really do their best to avoid being easily found or detected. That in turn makes it quite a bit more difficult for you to join them, but you thankfully have us to give you a hand. Here’s how to get the Dark Brotherhood’s attention and impress them enough that they decide they’d rather recruit you than kill you.
How to join The Dark Brotherhood
- Go to any inn and ask for gossip from the innkeeper. Eventually, an innkeeper will give up information that will point you towards a boy in Windheld (Aventus Aretino) who is trying to perform the Black Sacrament, a Dark Brotherhood ritual.
- Alternatively, head to the Honorhall Orphanage in Riften – the children there will talk about the boy’s attempts to summon the Dark Brotherhood too. Either of these things will give you an objective to go find the boy.
- So… go find him. Aventus will be in his parents’ home in Wildhelm. Chatting to him about his dark tendencies will kick off the Innocence Lost quest.

- The innocence lost quest will now take you to the orphanage in Riften that you might’ve delivered earlier… and, yes, you’ll have to commit a murder. This is the Dark Brotherhood after all. You won’t get a bounty for this particular killing.
- 24 or more hours after completing the Innocence Lost quest a courier will appear when you’re inside a city. They’ll offer an ominous note: “We know.”
- Once you’ve received this note, go and sleep in any bed for a while. Given that you’re the all-powerful Dragonborn, this is one of the few times you’re vulnerable… and you’ll be abducted.
- You’ll wake up in an abandoned shack. At this point, you have to decide if you’re going to join or destroy the dark brotherhood. From here it’s pretty clear-cut – attack Astrid, the Dark Brotherhood Assassin, to initiate the quest to destroy the brotherhood. Do as she says in order to join the brotherhood and get access to their quest line.
